Greetings.
I realize it's been a while since my last post and you've been patiently waiting for something new and exciting right?
Sorry.
This stuff might sound boring and beaten to death, but there are FAR too many people reading the same type of material that I'm about to break down and haven't done a dang thing about it.
Let's break things down shall we? Kevin Tan style.
Here are 10 tips to help you reach network marketing success:
1. Understanding HOW to set goals
- I want to make a million dollars this year…
- I want to go to Spain this summer…
- I want to be a top earner in my company…
These are all very admirable goals, but you have to set a series of small goals that lead to the big ones. Add on the fact that you have to set realistic deadlines on those goals. Most people new to this industry state these types of goals and don't realize that there is an arduous process in not only transforming your financial sector, but also a personal sector (who you become in order to achieve those goals).
2. Reaching out to experts
I have observed that people are literally AFRAID to reach out. No matter how much I extend a hand out, a vast majority don't take the initiative to ask for help. You'll find some of the most helpful people on the planet in network marketing. Remember, these are just ordinary people with ordinary lives…they're just doing extraordinary things with what this industry offers. They WANT to help you…it's just the nature of network marketing. It's one of the beautiful things that I absolutely love when comparing it to corporate life.
3. Connecting with colleagues
Competition is fierce in this world…but network marketing seems to have an alter ego. There are a lot of untapped resources to bring into network marketing but people are passionate about different things. Marketers realize that some people are passionate about health drinks, some about technology, some about shopping…etc. It's a reality and you'll find your colleagues more than willing to share some knowledge with their experiences in their particular company.
4. Remember your loved ones
I've been guilty of this, because I'm just so darn determined to get something. But remember, you started doing this business FOR the sake of improving the life of your loved ones. It would be incredibly ironic for you to forget about them (put them on hold) as you become obsessed with making this business work. It's a delicate balance, but you can't forget where you came from.
5. Reality check
Accept your results and compare them with what you set your goals to be. If you keep sugar coating EVERY little thing…guess what? Your bank won't sugar coat your account. Take the numbers for what they are and make the necessary changes to improve.
6. Cut the crap
At times you might be tempted to exaggerate the numbers to make yourself LOOK better. I always hated that and I was VERY tempted to do the same thing when I first started marketing. Fortunately I didn't go that route and the results are phenomenal. If you can maintain a sense of integrity, you're going to go far. Lying leads to more lies and more work…eventually something's going to get mixed up and you're in the hole. If you're constantly improving on your skills and you're offering substantial value, there's absolutely NO REASON people won't want to do business with you.
7. Face your fears
It's part of the process in achieving your goals. You have to overcome those fears (calling leads, making videos etc) to become successful. The first time I started making videos, I was sweating profusely before each recording…and had to retake each video around 10 times. All that practice certainly made me better. When I started calling leads, my voice was always shaky and my hands were cold…but the more I called, the more confident I got and more prospects joined. It's life…deal with it.
8. Take care of yourself
If you're sitting at your laptop all day reading e-mails from all the lists you subscribed to and eating potato chips, you're body will punish you severely. Take time to exercise, eat right and get an adequate amount of sleep. Don't fool yourself into thinking that 24/7 work, with chip grease on your pants and 4 hours of sleep is going to get you results. Your body is a POWERFUL machine but you've got to maintain that machine for the long haul.
9. Eat that frog
Brian Tracy had a great way to establish hard discipline on yourself…to eat that frog. Eating that frog means doing that ONE thing you absolutely do NOT want to do but will make the BIGGEST difference in your business. My frog for the longest time was calling my leads. Once I started eating my frog every day, I saw an awesome surge of results and my confidence skyrocketed. If you haven't read the book, read it.
10. Stop wasting time
Check e-mails, check leads, chat on Facebook, check e-mails, check leads, invite friends to play new Facebook game…yada yada yada.
If that's a typical routine (or something related to that) you're wasting your time. In fact you're wasting your family's time AND money. This isn't a business to take lightly and certainly isn't the place to dilly dally because you're afraid of tackling potential problems. You'll live missing your favorite sitcom or tv show…trust me. Stop wasting your precious time and get to work.
